Metrorail suspended its service in the Western Cape on Wednesday morning due to various signalling issues and equipment failure.

Early on Wednesday, Metrorail declared the suspension of its services in the Western Cape.

The company cited multiple signalling problems and equipment malfunctions for the suspension.

Maseko expressed regret at the impact the suspension had on longsuffering train commuters.

The service was suspended after thieves stole cables at Tygerberg.

The service has since been resumed.
