Veteran actress Aletta Bezuidenhout passes away at 76
Bezuidenhout passed away peacefully in the presence of her two sons.
South African actress Aletta Bezuidenhout (76) passed away on Tuesday (13 February 2024).
Bezuidenhout was born on 17 May 1949 in Nairobi and worked for the former Transvaal Council of the Performing Arts (Truk). She graduated with a BA in Drama from the University of Cape Town where she later became an actress and veteran thespian.
The actress was best known for her roles in films such as Paljas and series like The Solar. She also appeared in In My Country opposite Samuel L Jackson and Juliette Binoche.
News of the iconic actress' death was confirmed by her son Hamilton Shamley in a post on Facebook who wrote that “both her sons were with her at the time of her death”.
“I will remember my mother as she lived, honest, energetic, highly intuitive and with her own special type of wisdom,” Shamley wrote of his mother.
An official cause of death has yet to be formally noted.
