DURBAN - The African National Congress (ANC) used its manifesto launch to once again pledge its solidarity with the people of Palestine amid the ongoing war with Israel.

The governing party launched its 2024 election manifesto on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Several ANC supporters at the venue who dressed in the party’s colours, added the black and white keffiyeh scarves in a show of force.

Two large Palestinian flags were also on display at the 56,000-capacity stadium.

ANC supporter Siyabonga Zondo said the party’s foreign policy called for a fight against injustice.

“We support the people of Palestine. The reason we support the people of Palestine is because they are oppressed. I remember the days when we were oppressed."

Another supporter, Monyale Ntsale, shared the same sentiments.

“We all know what is happening there in Palestine is not something we must sit back and watch as South Africans. We are watching an injustice happening there, a genocide, as some people refuse to call it that.”
