The European leg of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday 2 World Tour’ kicked off on a high note… for all the wrong reasons.
The US rapper’s show in the UK was called off at the eleventh hour over the weekend after she was arrested at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.
Dutch police detained Minaj on suspicion of exporting ‘soft drugs’ before being fined €350 (about R7000) and allowed to continue her journey, per BBC News.
At the same time, about 20 000 fans were waiting at a Manchester arena for her to take to the stage.
Fans were let into the venue and kept waiting until the show was eventually abandoned at 9:30 pm.
Minaj took to social media in a lengthy post to apologise to fans, promising to reschedule the show for a new date.
“Please, please, please accept my deepest and most sincere apologies… I’ll find a way to not only make up the date with the performance, but I’m going to create an added bonus for everyone that had a ticket for this show. Promise.”
Thank you to everyone who prayed for me today. May God cover you & all that is connected to you. May you be blessed beyond your imagination.
