JOHANNESBURG - Voters in parts of Joburg North have expressed mixed feelings about their voting experience on election day.

While it has been smooth sailing for some, others complained about long delays and in some cases, frustrating technical woes.

For the early birds who braved long queues since the morning, the experiences have varied from good to not so satisfactory.

However, residents agreed that it was vital to make their mark.

"Very interesting times that we are voting in, so I think it’s not exciting but I think these elections will be something different for us, so we’re looking forward to the results."

Another voter highlighted the need for a change.

"Yes, I want change in this country because it can't go on like this."

Voting will officially close at 9pm on Wednesday evening.
