ANC narrows down coalition arrangement to government of national unity: Mbalula
There have been talks of an ANC-Democratic Alliance (DA) coalition - an ANC, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and Patriotic Alliance pact - a minority government and a highly unlikely ANC and uMkhonto weSizwe Party marriage.

JOHANNEBSURG - As the African National Congress (ANC) national executive committee meets to chart a way forward post a poor showing at last week’s election, party secretary general Fikile Mbalula has suggested the organisation is likely to support a government of national unity (GNU).
That is instead of joining hands with a single party.
This would see every political party represented in the National Assembly being invited to form part of the executive.

But after negotiations with multiple parties, ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula seemingly knows the organisation’s preferred coalition arrangement.
“We have narrowed it down to GNU, where we’ll invite everybody. So, we have not confined ourselves to the identity of a party because another political party may say they are not interested.”
There is currently no framework to guide coalition governments.
