CAPE TOWN - ActionSA says it will be watching the African National Congress (ANC) closely to check whether the party lives up to its coalition promises.
This follows the ANC's agreement with the Democratic Alliance and other parties to form a Government of National Unity (GNU) during the first sitting of Parliament last week.
ActionSA’s Atholl Trollip says compromises are already being made to maintain the new government.
"All the parties with the exception of the ANC have been saying the Cabinet is bloated. In fact, even Cyril Ramaphosa in 2018 promised to trim down the size of Cabinet and we're watching with interest to see if the Cabinet will be trimmed down or whether it will be increased to accommodate the parties that have pulled into this grand coalition."
