Xhakaza refuses to comment on reasons for Dlabathi's resignation

Ekurhuleni Mayor and African National Congress (ANC) regional leader Doctor Xhakaza has refused to respond to questions surrounding the sudden resignation of Finance MMC Jongizizwe Dlabathi.

Dlabathi stepped down from the city’s mayoral committee and also resigned from his role as ANC regional secretary in Ekurhuleni this week.

His unexpected resignation follows an alleged fallout with Xhakaza.

However, when asked to confirm the claims, Xhakaza declined.

"All these issues about his resignation are an internal matter, and I’m sure the organisation will express itself at the right time. I’m calling it a possible resignation because the organisation still has to sit on it. Once it’s finalised, we will give an update.”
