DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal police anticipate difficulty investigating the recent fires that ravaged parts of the province, citing a lack of eyewitnesses.
Police are investigating cases of arson after veld fires claimed 13 lives and destroyed homes and vast areas of land.
Provincial police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi: "It's been difficult, not because of the lack of capacity from the law enforcement to investigate but by and large, it’s how these incidents happen - the fire starts in the wild and no one is witness in those areas when it happens."
