Unlock the Cape: Treat yourself at 'Mischu' - a budget-friendly neighbourhood café in Sea Point
This might just be your new favourite brunch spot in the City.
Ute Hermanus reviews 'Mischu' - a budget-friendly neighbourhood café in Sea Point.
Enjoy the smell of coffee and the sight of indulging croissants in the display as you enter the quaint corner coffee shop, Mischu in Sea Point.
Call it your favourite local neighbourhood café, always ready to serve you a cuppa during that morning rush while cultivating a relaxing atmosphere all day round with their large windows overlooking Regent Rd.
Mischu first opened their doors in 2012 and it's clear with over a decade in the business, they’ve carved their mark in the neighbourhood. Not only this, but they know how to keep the locals and new visitors coming back.
Here are a few reason why they continue to buzz:
It starts with their award winning coffee, specifically the Isabella blend named after the owner’s first born who arrived the week of the release of the blend to the South African market.
Since then, it's taken home multiple awards like the best cappuccino in Cape Town and South Africa as a whole, along with a top 10 nomination for best coffee shops in South Africa and bagging best coffee in Cape Town three years in a row.
The full body blend originates from Brazil, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
It's fragrant, has floral aroma notes, delicate citrus acidity, a fruity flavour and an enjoyable dark chocolate aftertaste.
This, and their 06:45 weekday opening time, makes Mischu an ideal spot for early morning risers, promenade joggers, post school runs and remote workers. Plus, there is unlimited Wi-Fi, a great bonus.
If you feel like sitting down, you’ll be surprised as you can enjoy brunch for well under R100.
Some items on the menu include, 'Mischu omelette' (filled with grilled mushrooms & plum cherry tomatoes served with a toasted ciabatta or sourdough), 'smashed avo on toast' ( a brunch staple) and their iconic 'chia pudding and seasonal fruit' (topped with coconut shavings, almond biscotti, maple syrup and hints of mint).
You can also build your own breakfast, but adding a homemade muffin to your meal is a great way to start things off.
Mischu is open seven days a week:
Monday – Saturday (06:45am – 5:30pm)
Sunday (07:30am -5pm)
Address:
85A Regent Rd, Sea Point
