Groote Schuur Hospital holding robotic surgery week ‘for women, by women’

Groote Schuur Hospital is celebrating the final week of women’s month in a special way.
They will be holding a robotic surgery week using the state-of-the-art Da Vinci surgical robot.

The Robotic Surgery Week will feature 10 complex procedures, including gynaecological, urological, and colorectal surgeries.
This technology enables minimally invasive surgeries, which reduces pain to the patient and speed up their recovery.
Ras says they are specifically operating on women and all the surgeries will be done by women.

She says these robotic surgeries, or keyhole surgeries, give the surgeon better access and visualisation.
