Going to Ellis Park for the Springboks game? Take the train, it's FREE!

Anele and The Club on 947 speak to Zipho Mlambo, Head Of Group Marketing at PRASA.

All roads and trains lead to Ellis Park this weekend as South Africa takes on New Zealand in the Rugby Championship at Emirates Airline Park.

The City of Johannesburg, Gautrain, and PRASA recently announced a partnership to make sure rugby fans have safe, seamless, and reliable transportation to watch their favourite team in action.

Fans can take the Gautrain from any of its stations to Park Station (Gautrain rates apply).

At Park Station, fans will transfer to a PRASA train to Ellis Park Station – FREE of charge for game day ticketholders.

“It’s the quickest way to get there. We’ll have a train every 15 minutes between 11 am and 11 pm. We want fans to be able to get to the stadium early and enjoy the activities.”
- Zipho Mlambo, Head Of Group Marketing – PRASA

The City will ensure that law enforcement is fully prepared and visible in and around the stadium to ensure people have a safe and fun afternoon out.

This will extend to Park Station.

“When you get off the Gautrain, get off your e-hailing or you park your car at Park Station, there will be full security all around… when you board the train, there is onboard security and CCTV… it’s the new trains so people will be able to experience it.”
- Zipho Mlambo, Head Of Group Marketing – PRASA
“We are going to be dropping fans off right at the stadium… You literally walk 50 metres and you’re inside [the stadium].”
- Zipho Mlambo, Head Of Group Marketing – PRASA
