Lester Kiewit interviews Tania Koen, Alison Botha’s lawyer.
Listen below.
Alison Botha is a fighter.
She survived a brutal rape in 1994 where she was disembowelled and her neck slashed, and then left for dead by her two attackers, Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger.
Today, she is once again battling for her life after suffering an aneurysm on 25 September, which necessitated two brain surgeries to stop the haemorrhage and relieve pressure on her brain.
Koen confirms that Botha can communicate, though her coherence can fluctuate.
They are currently awaiting medical results to assess the full extent of her rehabilitation needs, however, Koen says that they remain positive about her recovery.
"We have utter faith that she will make a recovery."
