Cape Town police nab suspect trying to rob cyclist

CAPE TOWN - In another successful operation police have foiled an attempted robbery on the N1 in Cape Town on Sunday.
Plainclothes officers patrolling hotspot areas for muggings spotted the 34-year-old attempting to rob a cyclist.
SAPS spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi says officers gave chase and apprehended the suspect.
"Members attached to the Woodstock Crime Prevention Unit were strategically deployed in civilian dress to do foot patrols in an area identified by the local SAPS as a hotspot where often cyclists become victims of mugging in the vicinity of Lower Church Street bridge."
The man is expected to appear in the Cape Town Central Magistrates Court for an attempted robbery.
