2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon set for 24 May!
`Save the Date' for next year's new date!
While the much anticipated 2025 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon takes place on 18-19 October 2025, a `Save the Date' is in order for next year's edition.
The 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will take place on 24 May!
This strategic shift is designed to offer runners an even better race-day experience with:
- Cooler autumn temperatures.
- Reduced wind conditions.
- The benefit of a later start time to ease race-day logistics.
The move to May will set the stage for faster times and an even more memorable event.
Ballot entries will officially open on 6 November 2025, so stay updated by following Sanlam Cape Town Marathon's website or social media.
If this year's Stage 2 evaluation for Abbott World Marathon Majors status is successful, the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will be Africa's first Major. This will place it on the world stage, alongside other icons like the TCS Sydney Marathon, Tokyo Marathon, the Boston Marathon, the TCS London Marathon and the TCS New York City Marathon.
