With grade 8 application deadline approaching, WCED urges parents to complete process as soon as possible

CAPE TOWN - The deadline for grade 8 applications is fast approaching.

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has urged parents of grade 7 pupils to apply to high school as soon as possible.

The online admissions window closes on 15 April.

More than 33,000 grade 7s still need to apply to high schools.

The department said that to date, 116,000 learners have applied for grades R, 1, and 8 for 2026.
