Investigations underway into separate murders of 2 off-duty police in the WC

The two female officers were shot and killed in separate incidents in Athlone and Bishop Lavis.  

CAPE TOWN - Investigations are underway into the murders of two off-duty police officers in parts of the Western Cape over the weekend. 

The two female officers were shot and killed in separate incidents in Athlone and Bishop Lavis.  

No arrests have been made, and the motive of the shootings is unknown.

Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) said it's deeply disturbed by the murder of the two police officials. 

POPCRUs' provincial secretary, Mluleki Mbhele, said a swift response from the provincial police commissioner and police force is needed to bring the criminals to justice.   

"As POPCRU in the Western Cape, we are very saddened by the murder of these two police females, which occurred over this weekend. We want to tell it as a barbaric act and cowardice for those people who have committed this particular heinous crime."
