Prepare for road closures, KZN transport dept warns motorists as Comrades Marathon kicks off
The 89-kilometre downrun kicked off just before 6AM, with over 22,000 runners departing from Pietermaritzburg City Hall en route to the finish line at People’s Park in Durban.

JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal's transport department is urging motorists to steer clear of several roads around Pietermaritzburg and Durban on Sunday as thousands of runners take part in the Comrades Marathon.
The 89-kilometre down run kicked off just before 6AM, with over 22,000 runners departing from Pietermaritzburg City Hall en route to the finish line at People’s Park in Durban.

Provincial transport spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says motorists should plan alternative routes and expect delays.
"Chief Albert Road, Alexander Road to Ritchie Road, and Market Road to Pollyshot Road is going to be closed. N3 Lion Park is closed already at Umlazi Road."
