The two brothers linked to the murders of rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and entrepreneur Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane have abandoned their bid for bail.

Malusi and Siyabonga Ndimande briefly returned to the Durban Magistrates Court for the high-profile murder case.

Friday’s proceedings were expected to centre around their bail application, but they told the court they would not be applying anymore.

The Ndimande brothers were extradited from Eswatini in 2025, where they allegedly fled after AKA and Tibz were killed.

The two friends were murdered in 2023, in a shooting outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.

One of the brothers is the alleged shooter in the suspected hit on Forbes and Motsoane outside a Durban eatery.

On Friday, the defence lawyer representing the accused brothers, Sibusiso Dlamini, addressed the court that the bail application would no longer happen.

KwaZulu-Natal’s National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)’s spokesperson, Natasha Kara, explained.

“On their last appearance, they advised that they would want to make an application for bail. However, in court today [Thursday], the accused abandoned their application for bail.”

The accused will be served with indictments next Friday.

To date, the State has cellphone records, CCTV footage, bank records, and registrations of the vehicles to be linked to the assassinations.

The Ndimandes and the five other accused in the matter are kept at Ebhongweni prison in Kokstad.

Meanwhile, their trial has been set down for July this year.
