JOHANNESBURG - The Eastern Cape government has committed to ensuring that the families of flood victims continue to receive the necessary burial support.
Since heavy rain slammed the province nearly two weeks ago, 95 people have died.
In an update on Monday morning, authorities confirmed that the bodies of three people were found in the last two days.
While search operations continue in the worst-affected parts of Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, families are left to pick up the pieces of the devastation left by the torrential rain.
The provincial government said it was providing financial support to the affected families.
This support comes from the different government departments, including the Department of Education, which is contributing financial support of R5,000 per deceased learner.
Other private donors have also contributed to aiding the affected families.
