The Cape of Good Hope SPCA is asking for the public's help in the drive to arrest and prosecute dog fighters.

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA is the oldest and largest in South Africa, and known for its untiring work to rescue and home abused and abandoned animals.

Now it has intensified its call for help from the public to act against the scourge of dog fighting.

The organisation is offering a reward of R5,000 for information resulting in the arrest and prosecution of dog fighters.

The SPCA emphasizes that, if you have information to share, you call will be confidential.

Look out for suspicious activity like:

Many dogs on one property
Dogs confined, kept on chains

Signs of fighting include:

Dogs with injuries or scarring on their legs, face, and ears (especially pitbulls)
Puncture wounds, swollen face, and cropped or mangled ears
The presence of items like treadmills, catmills, spring poles, and break sticks
