The Cape of Good Hope SPCA said many animals have been left exposed to the elements - drenched, freezing, and chained up in yards.
Spokesperson Belinda Abraham is appealing for donations of blankets, towels, and pet food.
“The Cape of Good Hope SPCA is in rescue mode. Our first responders are finding several animals chained, drenched, freezing, and without shelter in this weather.
“All these animals are on their way to the SPCA, but there will be more. We’ll be working throughout the night and we’re preparing for an influx of animals in need of care.”
