Maintenance to Yeoville system leaves some Johannesburg residents without water

JOHANNESBURG - Some Johannesburg residents will have to contend with continued water outages, as maintenance work is underway to fix the Yeoville system.

According to Johannesburg Water, technical issues have caused delays in the return of water in some parts of the metro.

Joburg Water spokesperson, Nombuso Shabalala, said the system was affected by low incoming flows in the tower zone.

"The Yeoville system continues to be impacted by low incoming flows, with the tower zone particularly struggling to reach sufficient levels for pumping to resume. Running the pumps before adequate levels are reached will lead to trips."

The utility said that they could not confirm when water would be restored to the affected areas.
