South Africa is once again making headlines on the world stage, this time for its extraordinary dance talent.
In a moment of immense national pride, the South African senior street dance group won gold in the Street Dance category at the 2025 Dance World Cup, currently taking place in Burgos, Spain.
Often dubbed the "Olympics of Dance," the Dance World Cup features top-tier talent from over 50 countries and runs until 12 July, with each country having only four spots available per age group and genre at the World Finals.
South Africa won with a final score of 95.7% with what is "an amazing achievement for them and their future," says Friedman.
Winning gold in one of the event’s most fiercely contested categories is a major achievement, and South Africa delivered a performance that was nothing short of electrifying.
A TikTok video shared by @mainly.lebo captured highlights of the group’s powerful routine and revealed their range, as the dancers also competed in contemporary, hip-hop, and traditional dance categories, showcasing their versatility and passion.
The video quickly gained traction, with proud South Africans flooding the comments section to express their joy, pride, and support for the dancers who have put the nation in the global spotlight.
