Rondebosch Park Estate Arts and Crafts Market 

When: Saturday, 26 July from 10 am to 2 pm

Where: 11 Milner Road, Vista Nova, Rondebosch

About the event: Crafts, sweet treats and more available for those who love a market day.

RC Squared and Yaaseen Barnes Presents: Stand Up Comedy

When: Saturday, 26 July, 7 pm

Where: Erica Primary School, Homeria Road, Belhar

About the event: a night of lekker laggies with host and local comedian, Yaaseen Barnes, with Wesley Paulse, Zachary Esau, and Stuart Taylor on the line-up.

General admission tickets are R130 while tickets with koesister and drink of your choice are R150.

Chommies Cozy Club

When: Saturday, 26 July from 9:30 am to 1 pm

Where: The House of Chommies, 110 Hatfield Street, Gardens

About the event: The Chommies Knit Club Cozy Club is a one-day winter event hosted by Chommies, featuring mohair jerseys, winter gear, and gifts, all at lower prices. It will also include a Knit-a-thon, where attendees can learn to knit, and a blanket drive for animal shelters while mohair jerseys and more will be up for sale at reduced prices. Dogs are also welcome!

Bright Horizons Fundraising: Quiz Night

When: Saturday, 26 July

Where: Athlone School for the Blind Hall, Athlone Street, Bellville South

About the event: This is a pilot project and fundraiser. All funds raised from this event will go towards providing much-needed outdoor seating for the learners of Athlone School for the Blind.

Patrons can bring their own drinks and food, and a DJ will be there to entertain.

Registration is at 6 pm and the quiz starts at 7 pm.

The cost for a team of six is R600, but a team of four will also be accommodated at R400. Spectators are welcome at R20 per person.

The top three teams will receive generous cash prizes, and a number of spot prizes will also be handed out. If this pilot project is reasonably successful, it will be offered to any interested schools.

Edgemeads Largest Indoor Second-Hand Market

When: Sunday, 27 July from 8 am to 2 pm

Where: Edgemead Community Hall, 83 Edgemead Drive

Landscape Punch Needle Workshop

When: Sunday, 27 July from 2 pm to 5 pm

Where: Atlantic Beach Hotel, Melkbosstrand

About the event: Keen to learn a new skill? Punch needling might be for you! 

Punch needle is a craft technique that uses a hollow needle to push yarn or thread through fabric, creating loops on the other side. This results in a textured surface with either flat stitches or raised loops, depending on the technique used. It's a versatile craft, similar to rug hooking but with more modern applications, and can be used to create various items like wall hangings, pillows, and rugs. 

What to expect:

  • The event is suitable for beginners with step-by-step assistance.
  • All tools and materials included.
  • Clients take home their embroidery ring, punch needle, threader, yarn and pattern.
