JOHANNEBSURG - As we approach National Women's Day, singer Vusi Nova has advocated for greater respect for women.

Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Nova said the power imbalance between men and women must end, especially in the workplace.

"Men feel intimidated in the workplace if a woman holds a CEO position in Africa, not just in South Africa. Man, I think that must end. Every one of us is on an equal footing," Nova declared.

Nova made this statement prior to the National Women's Day celebration, which will honour the amazing women of Mzansi by bringing together award-winning local and international stars on one platform.

The legendary DP World Wanderers will host the event on Saturday.

National Women's Day commemorates the 1956 march of approximately 20,000 women who marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest the nation's pass law. The law required South Africans classified as "black" under the Population Registration Act to carry an internal passport, or passbook, in order to manage migrant labour, maintain population segregation and control urbanisation during the apartheid era.

TWO POWERFUL FORCES JOIN FOR NEW MUSIC

After four years of contact and discussion, Vusi Nova and Anthony Hamilton are in studio cooking something for their fans.

"I think I've always been a fan. I feel like I know his sound and when I got into studio, I did something that I thought he would like. I did two of them, sent them to him and funny enough the one that I really sort of gravitated towards is the one that he chose," Nova said.

After hearing the two songs, Hamilton, who was also present at the briefing, stated that he chose "Black Sweatshirt" because it had a youthful vibe.

"I thought it may be entertaining, something people wouldn't anticipate, perhaps they thought we would be singing loudly, and it would be attractive. So, I went with that one.

"It felt even more sexy on the large speakers when we arrived at the studio," Hamilton added.
