JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with the murder of PRASA regional manager, Jacob Khoaele.
Khoaele was shot and killed in his vehicle in La Lucia in January this year.
The latest arrest was made by the provincial serious and violent crimes unit, which has been pursuing the case for months.
Twin brothers, Vukani and Vukile Mchunu, were the first to be arrested on 27 July.
A third suspect, Sandile Ngcobo, believed to be the mastermind, was taken into custody earlier in August.
Police said Ngcobo was also facing charges in a separate case, involving a triple murder and attempted murder.
KZN police spokesperson, Robert Netshiunda: "On Friday, 8 August 2025, the murder and robbery unit detectives made yet another breakthrough when their investigations led them to Scottsburgh Magistrate’s Court where the fourth suspect, a 24-year-old man was arrested while appearing on a case of house robbery and attempted murder where he allegedly shot a homeowner before stealing his vehicle in Hibberdene on 11 November 2024."
Netshiunda said that the latest suspect was expected to appear in court soon.
"The 24-year-old suspect will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 11 August 2025. The trio of Mchunu twins and Ngcobo will also be in the dock again on Tuesday, 12 August 2025."
