CAPE TOWN - The State believes it has a very strong case against the alleged killers of seven-year-old Lolitha Kowa.

Odwa Jack and Nokuthula Matyeseni are accused of her murder after bloodstains believed to be that of the little girl were found inside their home.

Kowa was last seen playing with Matyeseni's daughter at the couple's home on 22 July.

Her lifeless body was found the next morning, dumped on a site not too far from her home.

Disturbing details have emerged in the Khayelitsha Magistrate's Court, revealing that Lolitha Kowa was also sexually assaulted.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said that all the evidence pointed to the two accused.

He added that they would be opposing bail, and so was the community.

"There are also signatures that have been submitted in hard copy and other signatures have been submitted electronically which are in opposition of the bail application."

Formal bail application is set down for 20 August.
