947’s Drive with Thando’s special Women’s Month feature, HerStory, is back with inspiring stories from the girl bosses of the industry.

In the first episode, Thando Thabethe chats to Leanne Manas.

She is not just a broadcaster, but a powerful media personality who is known for her storytelling and inspiration.

Believe it or not, but this wasn’t a career path that she ever thought about.

“I was just a very shy kid… I hated attention, I hated speaking…”
– Leanne Manas, broadcaster

She talks about how she got into media, her life in broadcasting, family and what is next on this adventure that is her life.

She was among the select few journalists to cover the late Nelson Mandela’s funeral.

“We were doing a live broadcast from an Air Force base in Bloemfontein and I had just done a plane jump. I have never felt more on top of the world… and then the news came through… I drove with a black suit in the back of my car for months.”
– Leanne Manas, broadcaster
