JOHANNESBURG - The family of a 20-year-old woman, who was stabbed to death allegedly by her ex-boyfriend, says it's awaiting a formal apology from the family of the suspect.
Lazarus Antonio was arrested last Friday after he allegedly posted a video on social media showing the bloody scene where Kamogelo Matora’s lifeless body lay in Maubane, in the North West.
The 26-year-old appeared before court on Monday, facing charges of murder and attempted murder.
Matora’s father, Thabiso Seema: "No one from his family has said anything. They never even called and said we are sorry as the family."
According to police, on the same day of the incident, Antonio stabbed his current girlfriend, who survived the attack and was hospitalised.
Gender activist Vicky Lamula weighed in on the attacks.
"We are not going to play with people that kill, people that think that GBV is something to play with. We are very angry as a community, we are not going to stand for this."
The suspect will return to court on 5 September for a bail application.
