Parly's international relations committee chairperson satisfied with SA's preparations for G20 Summit

CAPE TOWN - International relations and cooperation portfolio committee chairperson, Supra Mahumapelo, said he's satisfied that things like infrastructure for the G20 leaders' summit are in order.

He said that, as the committee responsible for oversight, they felt it necessary to also engage non-state actors to get their views on the preparations leading to the November G20 summit under South Africa's presidency.

He said the committee has an interest in ensuring South Africa hosts a successful G20 Summit, which will leave a sustainable legacy.

Mahumapelo addressed a media briefing on Monday on the colloquium on people's expectations of South Africa's presidency.

"We are very happy with the extent to which South Africa, as the president of the G20, has been doing the preparations. Holding the sector consultations meetings, making sure that all the related infrastructure and logistics are indeed in order."
