Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa's mortal remains make their way back to his homestead

The body of the late Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa will be transported to his KwaMbonambi homestead on Saturday afternoon for the first time since he was repatriated from France.

The South African ambassador to France and Monaco died in Paris last week. 

His mortal remains returned to South Africa on Friday and were kept at a mortuary in Empangeni upon arrival in KwaZulu-Natal.

KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Siboniso Duma is part of the delegation leading the transportation of the remains. 

He says all processes are nearing completion ahead of the funeral on Sunday.

“The process is almost at a tail end now; things have been set – the infrastructure and overlay, so I think for tomorrow we look good – things are going to be how they would have loved.”  Duma said.
