The department addressed the media on the state of readiness for the upcoming National Senior Certificate exams at Parktown Girls' High in Johannesburg on Sunday.

The matric exams will run from the 21st of October until the 27th of November 2025.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane said a comparison of this year’s term-by-term results to last year’s shows that the class of 2025 is working towards a 90% pass rate.

"Most of the time you see the results; you don't know what goes on behind. We track the performance of each learner. We identify the learner and customise the programme around supporting that particular learner,” Chiloane said.
