The Gauteng Department of Education has ramped up efforts to help prepare matric pupils for the upcoming matric final examinations.
The department says its secondary learning improvement programme, national study camps, and other targeted revision interventions have been instrumental in improving learner performance throughout the year.
While the department said it believes the province is near ready, it has raised concerns about the impact of protests in some areas.
Some schools in Gauteng are entering the final phase of exam preparation through the education department’s just-in-time programme, which includes ongoing "sit-camps" offering focused revision for matriculants.

The department says this is to help pupils make up for lost time as a result of disruptions by protests.
"In some instances, we have had schools that were disrupted for about two weeks, because of civil and environmental protests," said Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane.
Chiloane said he remains confident that the interventions implemented throughout the year will help learners perform strongly when the class of 2025 begins their final examinations later in October.
