Sanlam says it will be offering every 2025 Cape Town marathon entrant a sponsored entry for either May 2026 or 2027.
About 24,000 runners woke up to a message from the event organisers on Sunday morning saying the race had been cancelled.
Event organisers made the decision after severe winds wreaked havoc in the race village and running routes from about just after midnight up until the race's starting time.
Sanlam's group executive for corporate affairs and sustainability, Shadi Chauke, said the offer would be extended to all 2025 marathon entrants.
Chauke said that Sanlam was deeply disappointed that the marathon was cancelled, saying the race deserved to get into the Abbott World Marathon Majors.
"So we have offered and extended our support to all the marathon runners that suffered the disappointment by offering them a free entry into the marathon in 2026 or 2027, depending on capacity constraints."
