For some spectators, CT Speed Classic was like 'living a dream'

The inbound lane of Philip Kgosana Drive in Cape Town has been reopened after being closed for the inaugural Speed Classic race that took place in the city this past weekend.
The event transformed a stretch of Philip Kgosana Drive into a 1.8 km motorsport track for a two-day festival featuring racing and supercars.

Scores of race fans gathered at the venue for the event, which was described as successful.
EWN spoke to spectators at Sunday night’s event: “This is actually one of my first racing events, so it was quite sick to see how everything’s run, and I think it was perfect,” said one spectator
"It was absolutely spectacular. We got to see the mountains in the background while the guys did their thing on the track, got to see all the fancy cars today, all the boys’ toys, and the atmosphere was pretty good as well," added another.
They said the festival exceeded their expectations.
"This was a show of sorts. I felt like I was living a dream because this is not my scene by any means but watching the machines, the people, the energy, the hosts, the eats, everything was fantastic," a spectator said.
"I came to see a GTR and the GTR was king of the mountain, so I’m very happy," another spectator said.
