A ballistics expert has told the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry that another firearm seized from suspects in the murder of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart is linked to five other criminal cases.
Senior forensic analyst at the South African Police Service, Captain Medlon Mkhatshwa, made the revelation during his testimony on Tuesday.
Although he confirmed that the firearm is connected to five other dockets, he could not publicly disclose the related cases.
Another firearm recovered from the same suspects has been linked to several high-profile murders, including that of Oupa Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody.
Captain Mkhatshwa told the Commission that it took him just one day to link the firearms in question to the additional murder cases.
"That pistol is linked with five case dockets. It’s linked the CAS 2, Lyttleton CAS, Pretoria West CAS, CAS 5 and CAS 6."
