GoTG deployed after fire destroys more than 80 homes at informal settlement in Plettenberg Bay

Gift of the Givers teams have been deployed to the Bossiesgif informal settlement in Plettenberg Bay.
 
A fire that broke out on Monday has destroyed a number of homes and residents' belongings.
 
The humanitarian aid organisation's Southern Cape Co-ordinator, Mario Ferreira: "Just after 1pm, 27 October, a shack fire broke out. The Gift of the Givers immediately rushed to the site to do assessment and to support the firefighters. Count is that more than 80 homes were destroyed, together with all the belongings of the people. At this stage, it seems the affected people is close to 200."
