Primedia Cares partners with Studyclix to give Matrics free access to study material

Launched in April last year, this interactive study platform, designed to boost exam results for Matric students and their teachers, has been heralded as a ‘game changer’ in the South African education landscape.

Since launching in April 2024, Studyclix has had over 2,500 teachers and over 27,000 students sign up and actively use it in over 4,000 secondary schools.

Developed with permission from the National Department of Basic Education (DBE), Studyclix is unique in that the platform takes past NSC exam question papers and breaks them down into topics and subtopics with detailed teacher-created mark schemes, videos, and notes. Studyclix works with expert teachers in South African schools to create enriched memos with teacher tips, quizzes, flashcards, guidance, and resource recommendations.

On the Studyclix platform, matric students can:

• Search and select questions by topic from hundreds of official past papers and check their answers against enriched memos developed by expert teachers.
• Use flashcards and take topic quizzes that are automatically marked with instant feedback to flag areas for focus.

• Use the community feature with links to useful resources and recommendations.

Subjects in English include Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Business Studies, Economics, History, and Geography, with more to follow.

For the last 10 years, Studyclix has been available and successful in Ireland, says Lynne Beachy Head, CEO of Chase Education Solutions.

"The essence of Studyclix is that it's really about taking the essence out of exam practice and making it easier for teachers and students to study and prepare for exams without having to trawl through loads of PDFs.

"What's critical is you'll have a teacher who can schedule quizzes or create a series of exams based on questions and send them to learners. The quizzes are automatically marked, so teachers can see exactly which questions at a glance that students are struggling with, and that allows them to target their teaching.

"At the same time, students can use it independently so they can work independently, do a quiz and see what they're struggling with and work on that,"she explains.

Studyclix is free for teachers to use in the classroom.

Matric students can register for a free 'basic' account with access to their teacher-created assessments and selected questions, and quizzes. They can upgrade to a PLUS account for independent study at R495.

Studyclix has partnered with Primedia Cares to provide free access to Studyclix Plus for studentsusing a specific upgrade code.
