Gauteng Police are on a manhunt for two suspects who shot and killed two officers in Ivory Park, Johannesburg, on Friday evening.
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has reportedly directed Provincial Commissioner Tommy Mthombeni to maximise resources in the effort to track down the perpetrators.
The attack occurred on Friday evening while a Sergeant and a Constable were patrolling the Ivory Park area. Police reports indicate that the two officers were ambushed by two unknown suspects.
The suspects shot and killed the officers, taking their rifles and cell phones.
Gauteng Commissioner Tommy Mthombeni has confirmed the deployment of a team of specialised detectives to the area. Their objective is to find the suspects and ensure the recovery of the state firearms.

Masemola highlighted the broader context of violence against officers, stating that between April and September of the current year, six officers were killed in the line of duty across the province.
