Interviews for the country’s top prosecutor post are set to be held in Pretoria on Wednesday.
Three hopefuls vying for the National Director of Public Prosecutions post will appear before a panel.
The successful candidate will succeed Advocate Shamila Batohi, whose term ends in January.
The panel interviewing candidates hoping to head up the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) include chairpersons of Chapter 9 institutions such the South African Human Rights Commission and the Commission for Gender Equality.
It will also include the Auditor General, the president of the Black Lawyers Association and a representative of the National Association of Democratic Lawyers.
Justice Minister Mamoloko Kubayi will chair the interviews and lead the recruitment process.
On Thursday, the three hopefuls who will take the hot seat include Western Cape Director of Public Prosecutions Nicolette Bell, her deputy, Adrian Mopp, and head of the Investigating Directorate Andrea Johnson.
They will all have two hours each to face the panel.
