Pretoria man (47) sentenced to 3 life terms for raping his nieces

The Pretoria High Court has sentenced a man to three life sentences for raping three of his nieces. 

The 47-year-old man from Mamelodi was arrested in 2022 after sexually assaulting the girls aged between six and nine. 

The suspect would visit the victims in their homes in Mamelodi and Nellamphius, where they stayed with their uncle and two older siblings. 

Pretoria High Court heard how he would wait for everyone to go to sleep, then fetch the girls from their bedroom and proceed to rape them in the living room. 

An educational outreach programme on sexual offences in 2022 led them to report the incident and the man’s arrest.  

Handing down judgment, the magistrate said he is a ruthless man and that there are no compelling circumstances to deviate from the prescribed minimum sentences.
