Western Cape MEC for Community Safety and Police Oversight Anroux Marais has welcomed the recent deployment of additional police officers to the province, calling it a positive response to the call for more policing resources.

Marais said last week's deployment of 479 newly trained South African Police Service (SAPS) cadets will help curb the ongoing surge of violent crime in the Western Cape.

The MEC also welcomed the inter-agency collaboration shown during the parade, saying cooperation between policing agencies is essential.

"This increased deployment is an important step in strengthening our collective ability to protect our communities."
