KZN police vow increased visibility over festive season

KwaZulu-Natal police have promised increased visibility over the festive season to clamp down on criminals.
On Tuesday, the Police Ministry and senior management visited the province to oversee deployments in Durban.
The authorities inspected a major roadblock in the Marrinahill toll plaza.
For his first ever visit to KwaZulu-Natal since appointed as acting Police Minister, Professor Firoz Cachalia arrived to team of men and women in blue.
The team includes new constables who just graduated from the police academy and joined the thousands deployed in KZN for the festive season.
Provincial commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi made this assurance to Cachalia: “We will continue visiting the area of interest where the citizens are visiting in the main the shopping centres, the beaches, we will be there through the passages, in the skies - in patrolling our skies.”
He’s also vowed people will be protected and safe.
“We will available ourselves to make sure that we protect them and create a safer environment during this festive season.”
Since the start of the festive season, over 15,000 suspects have been arrested in KZN alone.
