Patron kills DJ in Mpumalanga tavern shooting

Police are investigating yet another tavern shooting reported in the country, this time in Mpumalanga.

Police say one person was killed on Wednesday evening at a liquor outlet in Masoyi near White River.

According to preliminary investigations, a patron opened fire at a DJ after becoming angry when the music was switched off as the tavern was closing.

Police spokesperson Donald Mdluli says the gunman then turned the firearm on himself.

The shooting comes less than a week after twelve gunmen opened fire at a tavern in Bekkersdal, west of Johannesburg.

Nine people were killed on the scene, while a tenth person succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
