Firefighters are still battling to extinguish a wildfire that has been burning for ten days in the Cederberg region of the Western Cape.
The blaze has charred more than thirty-five thousand hectares of vegetation, and while 85 per cent of the fire is contained, it is still active in Kleinjongenskraal, Maraisberg and Remhoogte.
West Coast Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson Heinrich Robertson says the blaze is being closely monitored to prevent it from spreading to Kleinplasie.
"All other divisions in the northern Cederberg are fully contained and under control. Firefighting teams remain on high alert, focusing on suppression, monitoring and the protection of communities and infrastructure." Robertson said.
