Hunt for venue for Minstrel Carnival continues

1 January 2026 | 10:40The Western Cape High Court earlier this week ordered the city to provide the association with an alternative venue after the approval for Vygieskraal Stadium was revoked.

The City of Cape Town said that while it works to find a venue for the Minstrel Carnival Association, it is also considering sharing information about privately-owned, medium-risk venues.
The Western Cape High Court earlier this week ordered the city to provide the association with an alternative venue after the approval for Vygieskraal Stadium was revoked.
The metro said that it currently has only two medium-risk venues available, the DHL and Athlone stadiums.
Luthando Tyhalibongo said that the city will also share available information on alternative, privately-owned, medium-risk venues.
