Police in Kwazulu-Natal (KZN) police arrested more than 3000 people for drinking and driving during this festive season.
Today KZN Premier Thami Ntuli and provincial commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi are visiting the area to monitor how revelers are spending the day.
KZN deputy commissioner Phumele Makoba briefed the premier on the stats so far.
"The biggest number is driving under the influence as we try to minimise the number of deaths on our roads. The RTI, department of transport together with the SAPS are hard at work trying to address this issue.”
