Police on the hunt for gunman following Cloetesville shooting

Western Cape police are on the hunt for a gunman in Cloetesville near Stellenbosch following a shooting in the area. 

Police say a man and woman were shot in the legs on Friday and are being treated at a medical facility. 

The suspect is yet to be arrested and the motive for the attack is unknown. 

"Cloetesville police registered attempted murder cases for investigation following a shooting incident on Friday night, 2 January 2026, about 22:30, in Lang Street, Cloetesville, where a 26-year-old female and a 24-year-old male were shot and wounded."
