Western Cape man nabbed for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition

Western Cape anti-gang unit members have arrested a 53-year-old man for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
AGU officers were tracking suspects linked to a murder amid ongoing gang violence in Wesbank when they received a tip-off at around 2am on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala says the unit proceeded to an address in Framesby Street, where they found the suspect, who is alleged to be a gang affiliate.
“A search was conducted, which resulted in the discovery of a 9mm pistol with nine rounds of ammunition. The suspect was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and the illegal possession of ammunition. Once charged, the suspect will make his first appearance in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s court.”
